Eyes Closed!

Today I couldn't let go enough to enjoy my run. The music never took over and my feet never found that just right rhythm. I could not get the music loud enough and I kept thinking about how wonderful it would feel to run blind folded. This thought has been playing in my mind the last couple of years but lately it always surfaces about 18 minutes into my run. I wonder what it means? I think it would be freeing to just run...smooth and continuously right into the melting sun (my imagery I use while running). The music usually takes over and controls my heart rate and the rhythm, but today it never came. I struggled to get through the 3 1/2 miles. I didn't feel mentally rested or physically rejuvenated as I normally do. I never reached that meditated state where I am no longer in control and I am afraid it has thrown off my entire day. If it were warm I would take my purple yoga mat outside and sit by the pond and clear my mind. But it is still cold and threatening more rain. My mind just keeps going back to wondering what it would feel like to run without sight. I don't think I will ever try it for the fear of really hurting myself. I can see myself running into a parked vehicle or tripping on a treadmill and landing spread eagle in front of a crowd of strangers wondering who let her off the short bus. Sill I wonder....

I love the short bus analogy. I often feel like the queen of the short bus...I guess that would be the driver!

However, I think it's funny that you wrote about running blind. I don't run, but I do walk. Yesterday, I did it with my eyes closed. I just did a lap around my driveway, but it was an unusual feeling. I didn't do it out of curiosity. I was flat out exhausted and wanted to go back to bed.

Instead of running, try walking and stay close to home. Take your headphones off in case traffic is coming!

it's like a recurring dream isn't it? I'll have to pay closer attention to my own passing thoughts that I just so easily dismiss .... yours sounds like such an adventure :)
