Camera In The Coop!!!

You lookin' at me?
Maran and Wellsummer both about 10 weeks old. They lay the beautiful dark chocolate colored eggs, or they will after puberty!
Very broody! ( Don't even be taking my eggs fool or I will peck you!!)
My Malaysian Serama, White Silkie Bantam (BFF...hehehehe) and a Plymouth Rock.
Plymouth Rock egg, Silkie Bantam egg and the Malaysian Serama egg. (Followed by an inedible penny..hehehe!)
A good size comparision of the hens.
Silkie Bantam  with her best buddy the Malaysian Serama. I love the wings and tail of the Seramas!!!

This reminds me of my coop. The Plymouth Rocks looking down at the banties. Only my Rooster is a bantie and he pushes those big ol' hens around like he's there size.
What I don't know about, and have never heard of, is the Malaysian Serama. Is she a good layer? Does she get along with the other hens?
She is a beauty!
Love the egg comparison....

I find I am partial to large dark brown eggs. Next batch of chickens we get I'll investigate breeds that lay brown eggs... Welsumer? Although I do really like the Orpingtons and the Brahmas. You have a very nice mix of hens.

Chickens, like most creatures have a personality that is unique to each bird it seems. I appreciate anyone that can look at chickens and see past the bucket of KFC. The egg comparison was great as well.

This post takes me back (waaay back!) to when I was a kid visiting my grandparents. They had chickens and grandma would let me come along when she gathered eggs. You had to be quick!
