little haunted house
We left at 6:30 A.M. Our drive was long and wonderful. The desert looked cracked like in a old western movie (preferably one with Wayne and Stewart) The sky was a deep shade of promising gray and the only wildlife we saw were tiny lizards-except for that one doe. We arrived and spent about 15 minutes looking for the precious stones. The gray sky swallowed up what color was lingering and then swiftly poured out onto us. The thought and fear of a flash flood in the middle of nowhere was heavy so we left. I was sad. But a treasure fell right into our path. We took a different way out of the hills and came upon a little house. They stayed in the car- I explored like a child at Christmas.
