Chickens in stitches and a little bling...

I have been stitching away lately and made a special thank you for grandma and grandpa B. for all the treasures they have sent our way. I am mailing them a little package today and the tea towel with a hen and a rooster were made just for them! I also have made a couple pieces of jewelry, of which my daughter promptly took and has been wearing almost every day.  She looks good in it and it shows off the beautiful red in her hair. My kitchen is a disaster, I need to take down the Easter decor, I need to put away the piles of clean clothes and re-pot of few seedlings....oh and those of you who raise chickens I have a question. Those of you who don't, don't bother reading unless you want to be totally grossed out! So some of my hens seem to be getting pasty butt. I have had chicks that have had it before but not the 3 year old hens. Also it is still freezing here in the evenings and I even have a little snow left on the ground, so how the hell do I clean their backsides off without freezing their bums in the process? Any suggestions would be great. I cleaned out the coop two weeks ago. Treated everyone and everywhere for red mite, new pine in boxes, added some dusting sand (they free range most of the time) and am picking up some food grade DE today. (Prevention tactics done!) Well I am off to refill my coffee and force myself to get moving....no matter how strong the urge is to curl up on the couch with my book inside a big homemade quilt and a fresh cup of coffee with coconut creamer...

Sun Bathing Hens and a White Rabbit Egg...

I love Easter, it gives me a chance to play with eggs and dye. I am on my way down to the basement to bring up my  pysanky egg stuff so I can get busy. These are some fabric eggs and pysanky eggs from last year.

Yesterday the sun peeked out from behind the rain clouds and my chickens to full advantage of the rays!

I made some Papier-Mache bunnies last year as are cute and easy. Thought I would share the idea. I believed I used blown up balloons (the kind creepy clowns make animals out of) as the frame and then used liquid starch and newspaper. A little paint and some ears and your done. Very fast and fun.
